These islands are renowned for their stunning underwater landscapes, diverse marine life, and clear waters, making them ideal locations for learning to dive.
PADI Open Water Diver Course Overview
The Open Water Diver course is the first level of scuba certification and allows you to dive independently with a buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet). The course typically consists of three main components:
- Theory: You’ll learn the basic principles of scuba diving through online learning, classroom sessions, or a combination of both. Topics include dive equipment, the physics and physiology of diving, dive planning, and safety procedures.
- Confined Water Dives: These are pool or shallow water sessions where you’ll learn and practice scuba skills under the supervision of an instructor.
- Open Water Dives: You’ll apply what you’ve learned in the confined water sessions with four dives in the ocean over two days. This is where you get to explore the underwater world while demonstrating your new diving skills.

COURSE SCHEDULE
The PADI Open Water Lembongan Course is done over 4 days but can be fit into 3 days if necessary. However, it is recommended that you take the extra half day so that nothing is rushed.
Day 1
Welcome to Legend Diving. Today, you will watch some instructional videos while completing knowledge reviews in your e-manual. This section is largely self-study. You can do it either at the shop or with your own device if you have one. Obviously, we’ll also help you create your PADI account for access to learning materials. At any time if you have any questions you can ask your instructor.
Once your reviews are done, together you will take some time to revise it and acknowledge if you need further explanations. With this in mind, you will go through your quizzes and make sure that your global understanding is correct.
Day 2
You will work with your instructor today on more practical aspects of the course. Firstly, you will be briefed on the equipment and learn how to set it up yourself. Additionally, you’ll participate in Confined Water sessions in the pool. This is where you will learn to breathe underwater and demonstrate some skills. Furthermore, you will get comfortable with the gear. Some of the skills you will learn are:
- Scuba gear set up
- Getting rid of water in your mask
- Entry and exit techniques
- Buoyancy control
- Basic navigation underwater
- Safety procedures
The pool section will take approximately half a day. The rest of the day will be spent continuing with the theory.
Day 3
Today is a big day! You will do your first 2 ocean dives. Firstly, you’ll meet your instructor in the morning for a briefing. You will go over what should be expected to help you solidify your learning so far. In addition, these dives will go no further than 12 meters. They will be done in dive sites suitable for training. Afterward, we will return to the dive center and finish the remaining theory or confined session.
Day 4
This is the last day of your course. You will do 2 more dives to a max depth of 18 meters. The dive sites chosen will always take your training in mind. You will likely get the chance to see some majestic Manta rays! Although they are training dives, you are sure to see lots of marine life. You should be done by lunchtime. Straightaway, you can continue your education with a 10% discount off any additional courses.
In the meantime, as you surface from the last dive from your Open Water Diver Course, the Legend Diving Team will be proud to say:
“Congratulations”
